about

TAYLAH is back with another delectably soothing musical morsel. Her brand new single, ‘Graphic’ is the expressive RnB song we’ve been waiting for, evoking summer road trips and the wafting aroma of a backyard barbeque. The track is produced by Toby Lloyd of Tiny Triumph Recordings (Hollie Smith, Rob Ruha, Shapeshifter). TAYLAH’s narrative is a refreshingly satirical take on social media’s effect on mental health. This summer tune reveals a more stripped back sound from TAYLAH portraying a harmonious blend of dreamy RnB flavours and charmingly cadenced vocals.

TAYLAH says:
“I’m stepping into my own space with this song. It has a sort of cynicism that I get caught up in, and just drips with attitude. Graphic is one of my favourite songs to sing now.”

TAYLAH is the motivational, self-loving, aunty-energy you never knew you needed. Her music transcends the NZ pop genre into a realm of soulful riffs and memorable hooks. Her effortless vocals cradle your ears as they are carried along the warm waves of her melodies. When you put all of the elements together, you get an auditory cuddle.

lyrics

My brain is sore it got me walking out the door
But “I’m fine”, that’s not the first lie
My skin is raw my knuckles dragging on the floor
My mind has seen better times
Times, times, times

They say “never try to seek social validation,
but you’re worth a lot more if you pay hun,
leave a little less to the imagination”
Sweetheart, that’s what you’re facing
Everybody say’s “This is for me
I just want to share my originality”
While you feed the machine
Stuck on your screen
Addicted to dopamine

I just didn’t get it
Wanting to be someone else
I couldn’t celebrate myself
Just not photographic
I think that I’m losing my mind

I guess what’s in order is a ‘Congratulations’
Cause you brainwashed a whole generation
Got us thinking that we’re not worth enough
Aren’t we hurt enough?
It’s just exploitation
Well I’m not a commodity to be sold
Yeah you’ve got a lot of audacity you need to uphold
I don’t care for your attitude
Why not share gratitude
And let’s break this mold

I just didn’t get it
Wanting to be someone else
I couldn’t celebrate myself
Just not photographic
I think that I’m losing my mind

I’ve had enough of seeing you suffer
Stop living for others
Yes, I am your sister
A scream to a whisper
Ally and up lifter
But I am not exception
To a distorted self-perception
But the power that I mentioned
Is our time and our attention
